Summer is in full swing and colors are everywhere! From the bright daffodils to the burning sunsets, this season reminds us the beauty in being vibrant.

When I first joined the NBW team I was getting trained on colors and I figured it couldn't be too hard, right? I mean, there are 6 colors in the rainbow, how many more could there be for wigs? Wow, was I in for an awakening! After being here for nearly 3 months, something I still find challenging to understand is color! From numbering, to names varying from brand to brand, it can be a daunting thing. My hope throughout this blog is to bring clarity to the scene of color, as well as bring support that you are not alone in the color struggle!

The first concept I want to address is that of numbering and names. You would think these are universal in the "wig world"  but it is important to note that they actually are not! Here are a couple photos demonstrating this. As you can see, they have the same name/number, but the colors are clearly not the same! When it comes to purchasing a wig, it is important to know; just because you like a certain color in one brand does not mean that the same color in another brand is going to replicate that exact color.

The next concept is that of fiber! Sometimes the exact same color in the exact same brand, can still vary depending on the fiber type. For example, below I am showing a heat friendly synthetic fiber, regular synthetic fiber, and human hair of the same color; 6F27 in Jon Renau.

The last concept I want to talk about is how even style to style, color can appear differently. This is because highlighting and shading can vary cap to cap. A great example of this is found with the brand Ellen Wille. They embrace the individualistic approach by wanting each wig to be unique, even if it is in the same style and color. Here are some pictures of the change in color.

Here at NBW, we are happy to assist you in finding your beautiful hair. Our website has great color resources to help ease the stress of picking the color that is best for you. Our YouTube channel is a great resource for seeing colors accurately, as well as for finding wig reviews! Most importantly though, us ladies at NBW love to help so please give us a call and we can walk you through the journey.

Please have grace for yourself.  No one is perfect at this so why would you expect yourself to be? Take your time and do not rush the process. We know it can be overwhelming, and that's why we are here to help.

Much love from the NBW Fam 💖
